August 23-30, 2014 – International Solidarity Week for Anarchist Prisoners – Call out for action and resistance

In summer 2013 members of several ABC groups discussed the necessity of introducing an International Day for Anarchist Prisoners. Given there are already established dates for Political Prisoners Rights Day or Prison Justice Day, we found it important to emphasise the stories of our comrades as well. Many imprisoned anarchists will never be acknowledged as ‘political prisoners’ by formal human-rights organisations, because their sense of social justice is strictly limited to the capitalist laws which are designed to defend the State and prevent any real social change. At the same time, even within our individual communities, we know so little about the repression that exists in other countries, to say nothing of the names and cases involving many of our incarcerated comrades.

Revolutionary Struggle case: Text by Kostas Gournas about Lambros Foundas (Greece)

From: actforfreelambros

We have no other path worth walking except the one of resistance. The path of Lambros, the path of life.

HONOUR FOREVER TO LAMBROS FOUNDAS

Four years ago, the breath of a great fighter went out, my comrade of the Revolutionary Struggle, Lambros Foundas. He was killed during a shoot out, when members of the organization were attempting to expropriate a vehicle in Dafni.
Lambros politically came of age in the late part of the political transition after the junta and joined the anti-authoritarian movement. He participated in social clashes of the period characterized by that special spirit after the junta through which was arising the militant tradition, the collective memory of a population thirsty for freedom. February 23, Santa Martha prison, Mexico DF

On the evening of January 5, I was arrested with my comrades Fallon and Carlos for allegedly attacking the office of the Federal Secretary of Communications and Transportation of Mexico, and also a Nissan dealership. Windows were broken and molotov cocktails were thrown inside the ministry, (according to what the evidence says) and inside the new cars of the dealership. Damages are evaluated to more than 70 000 pesos at the ministry and 100 000 pesos at Nissan. Continue reading

Call for an international week of solidarity with anarchists in Mexico facing repression (March 17-24, 2014)

From: 325fuerzatripa

This is a call for international solidarity with anarchists in Mexico facing repression, whether they are stuck behind the iron bars of prison cells or hiding out for their freedom.

The state of Mexico has turned its attention to the blossoming anarchist space that has been actively attacking the state’s defense apparatus, the very foundation upon which it stands. Now is the best time to draw inspiration from the anarchist space in Mexico, and to show some love to our imprisoned comrades. The history of Mexico is very rich, and cannot be summed up in a text such as this. What can be mentioned, however, are the efforts that have been made to live in conflict with the state. 5E: End of the arraigo, terrorism case falls – Comrades now detained under charges of damages and attacks on public peace (Mexico)

solidaridad-818x1024from fuegoalascarceles

Yesterday February 17, marked the end of the 40 days of arraigo* decreed by the Attorney General of the Republic against our compañerxs Carlos López, Amelie Pelletier and Fallon Poisson.

During these forty days they tried to put together a case for Terrorism and Organized Crime against them, however, and despite intimidating and inquisitorial methods, they were unable to mount their case, so that at the end of the arraigo our compañerxs were released for lack of evidence. The Local Police of the Federal District has since detained them on charges of damages and attacks to public peace. Continue reading

Statement from NO TAV arrested (Italy)

no-tav_tunisiaTERRORISTS ARE THOSE WHO DEVASTATE AND MILITARIZE THE TERRITORY

CALL FOR A DAY OF MOBILIZATION

There are approximately 600 people accused, over a thousand investigated, dozens of people under several restrictions (home confinement, expulsion order), fines for hundreds of thousands of euros, a trial against 53 No Tav protesters, and several comrades who have been under house arrest for months now. These numbers show the repressive fury against the No Tav movement. This August, the Prosecutor of Turin added yet another chapter to their crusade: No Tav rotesters were investigated for “actions aimed at a terroristic attack” for one of the many actions taken against the construction site of Chiomonte – and for this reason subject to restraining measures. Gribus #2 Callout for contributions

GribuscoversmallIt has been a while ago since we could present our new anti-prison magazine to you. What started with a discussion about how to get more news about prisoner support and anti-prison related topics into the world, soon transformed into a new magazine called ´Gribus´.

With this zine we try to show the importance of prisoner support and why it should be an integral part of the anarchist struggle. In Gribus #1 we highlighted some individual cases of prisoners along with some writings on prison abolition and alternatives to the prison system and the criminal ´justice´ system.

Hopefully this magazine has informed or inspired you to start thinking about the abolition of prisons, writing to a prisoner, or even burning down a prison. For the next Gribus we are looking for contributions from you. Unlike the last one, this edition is going to be in English. So if you have a nice article, some artwork, announcements, etc, to put into the next magazine, please contact us. Continue reading
